This is a reprint of a public domain book that has been out of print. It was originally published in the Gospel Advocate in 1866-1867.
Lipscomb was one of the most influential preachers in the South through his work as the editor of the Gospel Advocate. He saw brethren dividing over various issues – including the American Civil War – and appealed for unity among brethren in the kingdom of God. His teaching in Civil Government challenged the popularly held views of brethren in his day and will do the same today. It is worthy of careful consideration.
