What This Book Is About

Civil Government - coverLately our nation has been in decline morally, economically, and also in terms of personal liberty. Many of these problems can be tied to the government expanding its powers beyond the role which God ordained for it. As more and more people of this country are seeking to change course and correct the problems that exist in our society, we need to understand the right place to turn for guidance – the Bible. The word of God shows us how society can function properly with or without the government. The Scriptures warn us of the dangers that come when government progresses beyond its divinely-ordained role. The way to fix our country is not by turning to more human legislation and government programs, but by turning to God and His inspired word.

The following is an excerpt from the book’s introduction: “Religion and politics are two topics that we are told should never be mixed with one another. There are brethren who cringe at any discussion of government in a sermon or Bible class that goes beyond, ‘Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities’ (Romans 13:1), and, ‘Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s’ (Matthew 22:21). Yet there is much that the Bible has to say about government in addition to these oft cited passages. In fact, there is so much Bible teaching on this topic that this material will not cover everything. It is an introduction of sorts that will hopefully spur you on to reflection and further study.

Civil Government contains the following chapters:

  • God-Given Rights
  • Government’s History of Taking Man’s Rights
